His name has appeared in newspapers such as The Washington Post, in magazines, on TV and also in the book titled How to Retire Happy by author Stan Hinden. In this book, with its fourth edition published in 2013, Jack contributed a chapter on retirement income. In 1982, Jack realized financial planning was an ideal way to service his clients and became one of the area’s earliest recipients of the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation. As the financial planning profession was growing, Jack taught a financial planning course that prepared students to sit for the CFP certification exam at George Washington University for 10 years.
Jack served as the President and Chair of the Northern Virginia Society of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, a professional organization. After successfully working as an Executive Vice President and Financial Planner at MANNA Financial Corporation for 10 years, Jack then joined what is now XML Securities in 1989.
Education
He is known around the Washington DC area for his “Friday’s with Jack” educational luncheons, which started just after 9/11 to discuss timely economic commentary. On Mondays, he publishes his weekly “Economic Update”, a newsletter discussing the prior week’s economic activities and what it means to his clients. Jack enjoys working with families, individuals and businesses. He specializes in retirement planning specific to wealth, income and incorporating tax planning. A graduate of Duke University, Jack is an avid Blue Devils fan and especially enjoyed their 2010 & 2015 NCAA championships.
Philanthropy
He has been active in the Falls Church Chamber and was Chair of the Greater Merrifield Business Association. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, shooting hoops, growing vegetables (to make homemade salsa) and watching his daughter compete in horse shows. Jack and his wife, Lea, have been married since 1985 and have one daughter. Ask Jack how many dogs he has.
